CHRONOGRAPH WATCH FAQ

1.What is quartz on a watch?

A quartz watch is a watch powered by a battery or solar cell, in which the timekeeping is regulated by a quartz crystal that vibrates at a certain frequency. Quartz watches differ from mechanical watches in that they are typically more accurate, and self-sustaining for 12 months or more,The battery used in our GT Chrono Watch is a Sony battery that lasts 3 years or more.

2.What is so special about quartz watch?

Quartz clocks and quartz watches are timepieces that use an electronic oscillator regulated by a quartz crystal to keep time. This crystal oscillator creates a signal with very precise frequency, so that quartz clocks and watches are at least an order of magnitude more accurate than mechanical clocks.

3.Do you know a racing watch?

When it comes to racing, timekeeping is fundamental. And as its name suggests, a racing watch is a purpose built timepiece used to measure race times. Typically used for motor racing, a racing watch can be used for motorbike, horse and yacht racing as well.

4.How does a chronograph work?

A chronograph is a specific type of watch that is used as a stopwatch combined with a display watch. A basic chronograph has an independent sweep second hand and a minute sub-dial; it can be started, stopped, and returned to zero by successive pressure on the stem.

5. Is chronograph watch useful?

It can measure your heart rate, calculate your average speed, or keep track of two events at the same time. There are also chronographs that have telemetre functions. This could inform you of the distance to a certain event that could either be seen or heard.

6. Why quartz watches are better?

Their advantages were many: with fewer moving parts, quartz movements were not susceptible to shock; a battery meant it didn't have to be wound up; and the accuracy was beyond what a finicky, hand-regulated balance spring in a mechanical watch could match.

7. What is a chronograph watch?

A chronograph is simply a stopwatch used to measure periods of time. Chronographs can be visually distinguished by their two or three sub dials and two pushers, that start and stop the chronograph function without interfering with the watch.

8. Is quartz an expensive watch?

Not really, from a financial standpoint, very few quartz watches have appreciated in value when compared to mechanical and automatic watches. It is not worth collecting quartz watches from a financial standpoint. Quartz watches lack what watch collectors want: a mechanical or automatic movement.

9. Are quartz watches worth buying?

Are Quartz Watches "Good?" Aside from battery changes, they don't require much servicing, they'll be more accurate than even the most expensive mechanical watches and they're naturally robust. Further, our brands have recently been making quartz watches with enthusiasts in mind.By the way, we also recently released the GT Chrono series.

10. Do chronograph watches need batteries?

The chronograph function requires higher energy usage than a basic 3 hands movement. Whenever the chronograph function is activated, more energy is consumed. Should this function be allowed to operate permanently, the battery life will only last for around 10 to 12 months.
